Market interaction is a core component of FactoryCapi. It allows players to sell, buy, and exchange almost all items in the game.
In real life, sales and deals are based on trust. We cannot do that in FactoryCapi. We must add constraints to players to avoid disputes between buyers and sellers. For example, when you want to sell items, during the time your offer is available to all in the public market, you cannot use these items in your factory. In real life it is of course not the case.
The cloud storage is a container you have for each land. It can hold a certain amount of items and is the interface between your factory and the market. If you want to sell items, they need to by in your cloud storage. If you buy some items, they will come in your cloud storage. That means you need to be active to transit items from your cloud storage to your factory (to a chest for example).
This panel shows your storage for the current map. Currently, it is full with items I cannot sell (they were given to me freely, how dare I sell them ?), that's why you can see the following icon on it.
You can also see I have coal that will be available in 47 minutes.
When player put items on the market, they because reserved, and you will see a lock icon.
In market place, there are 3 sections :
Public market is the section in the market place that allows you to buy and sell items with anyone. When you make a new offer, you can choose to use your own vehicle to handle the delivery, or let the buyer select its own one when accepting your offer.
When you make a new offer, the items you are selling, and the used vehicle if any, are reserved in your cloud storage, you cannot use them anymore. If someone accept your offer, they will withdraw from the storage automatically. Your vehicle will be available back after the delivery time.
When accepting a offer from the public market, items you are buying will be available after the delivery time. Choosing the good vehicle is important if you want to get your items faster.
You can filter public offers depending on multiple factors such as maximum price or maximum distance between you and the seller.
When you contract with another player, everyone will see the delivery vehicle on the world map. Vehicles can also be customized with common skins and dyes, so you can show off ! We will talk about customization more in the next FCDB.
Private market is where you can suggest a trade with a specific player. You can trade items for other items, something you can't do in public market. The behavior is otherwise the same as in the public market. It is basically a good way to trade with your friends.
Auto market is a specific section. Originally added to avoid stucked players. Because you can destroy all your items, the auto market provides a way to set off again by offering some basic machines like a drill, assembling machine and inserters. If you buy some items, they will be brought to you automatically and will be available in a certain amount of time (currently 1 hour but may vary).
The auto market also allows you to sell items. The amount of money you get from that transaction is not high, so selling to other players is encouraged. However there is no waiting time, the transaction is immediate.
You may wonder what is the advantage of destructing items over 'instant-selling' them, well, it's up to you, but you need less click to destruct them, especially if you destruct items directly from chest in your land.
